Tag/Day 0 auf dem Weg zur/on the way to MSC FANTASIA in Lugano, Switzerland - Genua/Genoa, Italy

Willkommen im Paradies - denn das Holiday Inn in Lugano, liegt nicht in Lugano sondern in Paradiso, was dazu fuehrte, dass unser Navi uns erst einmal auf die falsche Seite des Berges fuehrte.

Fuer 170,00 CHF plus 20,00 CHF fuer das Parken und 20,00 CHF fuer 24 Stunden Internet und Tax und Tax durften wir unsere Kreuzfahrt auf der COSTA CLASSICA 2007 wiederholen.

Abreißen und neu bauen!!!

Die Heizung funktionierte nicht, dass Bruno in seiner Verzweiflung die Decke heraufholte, die das Gepaeck abdeckte. Wie sich herausstellte, was es die Hundedecke, die seine Eltern noch zu Lebzeiten des Hundes vor neun Jahren vermisst haben... Unsere eigenen Bettdecken waren ja wasserdicht verpackt.

Es gab auch etwas Positives: fuer den Gegenwert von 5 EUR haetten wir nirgendswo besser fruehstuecken koennen. Es gab sogar Bouche de Noel - ein franzoesischer Weihnachtskuchen in der Form eines Holzscheitels. Gab es frueher, als die Kirchen arm waren und man zum Gottesdienst einen Holzscheitel mitbringen musste.

Unser Blick aus dem Fenster zeigte uns die Nahe vom warmen Süden: Palmen...



Welcome to Paradise - because Holiday Inn in Lugano is not in Lugano but Paradiso (the Italian word for paradise) which made our GPS taking us to the wrong side of the mountain.

For 170.00 CHF plus 20.00 CHF parking and 20.00 CHF for an Internet-Day-Pass and Taxes on whatever we repeated again our COSTA CLASSICA 2007 cruise (It was not nice...).

The heating did not work that Bruno went to the garage and get the wool blanket which we carried to cover the baggage in the car. Later we found out it was his parents' dog's blanket which was missed nine years before. Our own duvets were packed waterproof...

There was something positive: for the value of 5 EUR, you cannot get a better breakfast. There was also Bouche de Noel - a French Christmas Cake in the shape of a piece of wood. When the churches were weak, and you visited the services you were requested to have a bit of wood with you to heat the church.

Our view from our room showed us that we must be near the warm South: Palms...

Wenn wir schon um die Ecke vom Luganer See sind, müssen wir doch mal einmal gucken:



If we are already round the corner of the Lake of Lugano we should have a look.

After we filled up our car in Germany and found out that Diesel was cheaper in Switzerland than in Germany and we know from ADAC (German "AAA") 1.18 EUR/l should be average in Italy. After we filled up and entered Italy, we found out in Italy, that the Diesel at the interstate's service station was as expensive as in Germany and in the townships, it's less than 1.00 EUR/l...

It makes fun to pay to use Italian interstates. Credit Card accepted. Even 0.30 EUR-amounts are o.k. and you will be forwarded even the credit card did not work.



Nachdem wir eigentlich gestern in Deutschland getankt haben und festgestellt haben, dass der Diesel in der Schweiz billiger als in Deutschland ist und lt. ADAC wiederum 1,18 EUR/l im Durchschnitt in Italien kosten soll. Nach dem wir getankt haben, haben wir dann in Italien festgestellt, dass er an der Autobahn genauso viel wie in Deutschland kostet und in der Stadt sogar unter 1,00 EUR/l liegt...

Es macht sogar Spaß in Italien für die Autobahn zu zahlen. Kreditkarte genügt. Selbst 0,30 EUR-Beträge sind o.k. und man wird sogar durchgewunken, wenn die Kreditkarte spinnt.

Unser Navi hat Radarwarner und Tempoinformationen. So mussten wir nicht rollendes Hindernis spielen.



Our GPS has speed control warning and speed information. So we did not to be a moving barrier.

We went first to Savona because I like to see the cruise terminal:

First Class signposts - so we will go by car if we will ever go with Costa from Savona.



Wir sind zunächst nach Savona gefahren, weil ich mir das Kreuzfahrtterminal mal angucken wollte:

Erstklassig ausgeschildert - so werden wir sicherlich auch mit dem Auto hinfahren, sollten wir mal in die Verlegenheit kommen, mit COSTA ab Savona zu fahren.

Wirklich beeindruckend.

Only if you check a map and the intersection as the destination for the GPS you should not use.

You will arrive behind the glass wall: ISPS... Port Security...



Nur auf die Landkarte und die Straßenkreuzung als Orientierung sollte man für den Navi verzichten.

Man kommt hinter Glas aus: ISPS... Hafensicherheit...

Überhaupt Bahnhof: Irgendeiner wollte doch vom Bahnhof zu Fuß zum Hafen:

Es sind so viele Kilometer dazwischen: man sieht ihn nicht einmal vom Bahnhof, der z. Z. auch noch umgebaut wird, und daher kaum eine vernünftige Wegführung bietet.



There are so many miles between the two places: you do not see it from the station. Due to reconstruction work, you will not find clear way-guidance.

We drove towards Genoa to Albissola Marina and enjoyed at the promenade the warming sun.



Wir sind ein Stück wieder Richtung Genua nach Albissola Marina gefahren und genießen an der Promenade die wärmende Sonne.





Nachdem am Strand alles zu hat (außer Schwarzhändler mit Handtaschen), sehen wir in dieser Gasse dieses Schild.

Wir gehen da hinein und sind absolute Exoten unter Einheimischen.



After we found out that everything is closed at the beach (except black dealers with purses etc.), we found this sign in this lane.

We went into, and we were the total exotics in between the locals.

The patron tried to teach Bruno correct Italian pronunciation, and we got the yummiest Pizza for the last two years. Without tomato: Genoa style (with Mozzarella and Pesto - Italian Herbal Oil Sauce) and additionally ham.



Die Wirtin versucht Bruno die italienische Aussprache richtig beizubringen und wir bekommen die leckerste Pizza, die ich seit zwei Jahren gegessen habe. Ganz ohne Tomate: Genovese (mit Mozarella und Pesto) und zusätzlich Schinken.

Wir fahren weiter zu Recherchezwecken zum Flughafen Genua.

Dort steht also der Volabus, der uns vis-à-vis zum Ponte dei Mille-Terminal an den Bahnhof Piazza Principe bringen würde.



We drove to Genoa airport for researches.

There is the Volabus which takes you to the opposite side of the Ponte dei Mille-Terminal at the Piazza Principe railways station.

It's so sad that the bus is going very rare. One per hour.



Schade, dass er so selten fährt. So etwa einmal stündlich.

Man bekommt derzeit nur Tagestickets (für alle öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel) für 4 EUR (2009).



You get only day-passes (for all means of Transport) for 4 EUR (2009).

For Taxis to the train station, you get a flat rate on request for 7 EUR pp. But they will charge for the minimum of three persons (2009).



Für Taxis zum Bahnhof gibt es auf Anfrage eine Flatrate von 7 EUR pro Person. Jedoch werden mindestens drei Personen abgerechnet (2009).

Schade, dass man für die Gepäckwagen zahlen muss. Auch wenn es nur 1 EUR sind.



It's a pity that you have to pay for baggage carts, even it's only 1 EUR.

There is a COSTA-Lounge and here is a signpost for a Cruise Passengers' Meeting Point. But I cannot find out how and when it works.



Es gibt eine COSTA-Lounge und hier gibt es an der Seite noch ein Schild mit dem Kreuzfahrer-Treffpunkt. Aber ich konnte nichts weiter feststellen, ob und wie das läuft.



The number of car rental companies is giant. It's the only place which is occupied on weekends and in front of the terminal you can return your car at any time.



Die Anzahl der Autovermietungen ist riesig. Es ist die einzige Stelle, die auch an Wochenenden besetzt ist und vor dem Terminal kann man auch jederzeit das Auto zurückgeben.



From here we also discovered COSTA PACIFICA. "Silence" as name for a music ship...

... and I discover in Sestri Ponente a Yacht-Club where I get her better into my focus. As Bruno was hungry and waited in the hotel, I did not take more pictures.



Von hier entdecken wir die COSTA PACIFICA. "Stille" als Name für einen Musikdampfer...

Irgendwie muss ich abends nochmals wiederkommen...

...und entdecke in Sestri Ponente noch einen Yacht-Club, wo ich sie noch besser ins Bild bekomme. Da Bruno Hunger hat und im Hotel auf mich wartet, belasse ich es bei den Bilderrn.

Wir fahren wieder auf die Autobahn und haben ein kurzes Video über die Abfahrt Genova Ovest gedreht.

Immer den Schildern nach und man kommt sogar zum Andrea Doria Terminal, an dem unser Schiff anlegen wird.

Die MSC-Schilder zu den Parkplätzen sind überall im Hafen aufgestellt.

You need to go to the lower level to release the baggage and car if you need to go to Ponte dei Mille. For the access to Andrea Doria-Terminal (e. g. MSC FANTASIA), you should visit Day 1.1..



Man muss auf die untere Ebene, um sein Gepäck samt Wagen loszuwerden, wenn man zum Ponte dei Mille will. Für die Anfahrt zum Andrea Doria-Terminal (z. B. MSC FANTASIA) siehe Tag 1.1..

In cruisecritic.com-forum we read a lot of Cinque Terre. I did not know it before and was curious.

It's a nature reservation between Sestri Levante and La Spezia.

Sestri Levante I know only from the presentation of the EuroCity-Trains when EC 4/5 was extended as "Carlo Magno" (Charles, the Great - before the train called "Metropolitano") and the train was welcomed like a maiden voyage of a ship.

La Spezia is the most Southern point now to which I drove by myself. So far I know it only if from my work as a substitution port for Genoa when they struck here.

First, we went to Monterosso del Mar which is 1 1/2 hours apart from Genoa.

So we experienced a unique natural landscape. The beautiful weather let a lot of walkers come. A lot of walkers just stood to enjoy a beautiful but fast sunset.

Back in Genoa, we went to a restaurant we went two years ago to have the best pizza. Unfortunately, we had to find out that it was not the same place. I was so desperate that I only eat the crust of the pizza and told the waiter that I was sick.

A beautiful day terminated, and the next day we are going on the ship.

Im cruisecritic.com-Forum lesen wir sehr viel über Cinque Terre. Ich kannte es nicht und war neugierig.

Es ein Naturpark zwischen Sestri Levante und La Spezia.

Sestri Levante kenne ich nur von der Einführung der EuroCity-Züge, als EC 4/5 nach Sestri Levante als "Carlo Magno" (Karl, der Große - vorher hieß der Zug "Metropolitano") verlängert wurde, und der Zug empfangen wurde, wie die Jungfernfahrt eines Schiffes.

La Spezia ist nun der südlichste Punkt, den ich selbst angefahren habe. Bislang kannte ich es nur von meiner Arbeit als Ersatzhafen für Genua, wenn hier gestreikt wurde.

Zunächst fahren wir nach Monterosso del Mar, das ca. 1 1/2 Stunden von Genua liegt.

So erleben wir eine einmalige Naturlandschaft. Das schöne Wetter zieht viele Wanderer an. Viele bleiben stehen, um den schönen, aber sehr schnellen Sonnenuntergang zu erleben.

Zurück in Genua wollen wir in dem Restaurant essen, in dem wir vor zwei Jahren die beste Pizza gegessen haben. Leider müssen wir feststellen, dass es nicht mehr dasselbe ist. Ich esse in meiner Verzweiflung nur den Rand der Pizza auf und gebe vor, dass ich krank sei.

Ein wunderschöner Tag geht zu Ende. Und morgen geht es auf das Schiffe.
