Tag/Day 1.1 auf der/on MSC EURIBIA in Kopenhagen/Copenhagen, Denmark

Unser Schiff legt um 16:00 Uhr ab und wir haben Einschiffungszeit 15:00 Uhr. Eine gute Gelegenheit nochmals in die Stadt zu fahren, um mich umzusehen. Ich fahre zunächst mit der Regionalbahn zum Flughafen. Es wird eigentlich nicht zwischen Regionalverkehr und Fernverkehr unterschieden. So nehme ich einen Zug von Øresundståg, der eigentlich nach Göteborg fährt, um zum Flughafen zu kommen.



Our ship departs at 16:00 hrs, and our embarkation time is 15:00 hrs — an excellent opportunity to return into town to look around. First, I take the regional train to the airport. There is no distinction between regional and long-distance traffic. So I take a train from Øresundståg, which goes to Gothenburg, Sweden, to the airport.

I am amazed that the old Danish IC3 trains are still running. I see that they are even tied through to Helsingør, Denmark.



Ich wundere mich, dass die alten dänischen IC3-Züge immer noch unterwegs sind. Ich sehe, dass sie sogar bis Helsingør durchgebunden sind.







Arrival at Copenhagen Airport. I had so little time last night to find out about the current status because I had to go to the rental car station so quickly that I'll catch up on everything this morning. I'm going right back into town.



Ankunft am Flughafen Kopenhagen. Ich hatte gestern Abend so wenig Zeit mich über den aktuellen Stand zu informieren, weil ich ja schnellstens zur Mietwagenstation musste, dass ich heute Morgen alles nachhole. Ich fahre gleich wieder zurück in die Stadt.





Ich fahre zunächst zum Hauptbahnhof, um mir mal die Umstiegssituation anzusehen. Durch einen Tunnel kommt man direkt in den U-Bahn-Bereich. Sogar ein Fahrstuhl führt dahin. Allerdings: Wenn man an einem Gleis mit einer niedrigen Nummer ankommt, muss man praktisch einmal quer durch den ganzen Bahnhof. Ist aber anderseits praktisch, wenn es draußen regnet oder kalt ist - es ist komplett überdacht.



First, I go to the central train station to observe the transfer situation. A tunnel takes you directly to the subway area. Even an elevator takes you there. However: If you arrive at a platform with a low number, you practically have to cross the entire station. On the other hand, it's handy when it's raining or cold outside - it's completely covered.







Da ich erst im Hotel später richtig frühstücken will, versuch ich Jugenderinnerungen wieder auferstehen zu lassen: Damals gab es an jedem DSB Kiosk Ribbensteg-Brötchen (Heißer Schweinebraten mit knuspriger Schwarte). Lecker. Leider gibt es DSB Kiosk nicht mehr. Sie sind jetzt 7Eleven-Filialen und dort gibt es nur HotDogs. Es gehört sich eigentlich nicht, hier ein dänisches Hot Dog zu kaufen. Man muss es an einem Würstchenwagen tun. Nun steht hier Frankfurter und das muss ich natürlich probieren, da ich ja in Frankfurt arbeite: Nie wieder Frankfurter in Dänemark.



Since I want a proper breakfast in the hotel later, I try to bring back memories from my youth: Every DSB kiosk sold Ribbensteg rolls (Hot roast pork with crispy rind) back then. Yummy. Unfortunately, the DSB kiosk no longer exists. They are now 7Eleven locations, and they only sell hot dogs there. It's not proper to buy a Danish hot dog here. You have to do it at a sausage truck. Now it says Frankfurter, and of course, I have to try it since I work in Frankfurt: Never again, Frankfurter in Denmark.







Ich fahre weiter nach Østerport. Hier besteht auch eine Umstiegsmöglichkeit zwischen der Flughafenbahn und der U-Bahn zum Orientkaj.



I continue to Østerport. There is also a transfer option between the airport train and the subway to Orientkaj.



Die U-Bahn ist führerlos. Für meine Fahrübungen sind aber die Steuerelemente vorne aufgedruckt und ich kann also so tun, als ob ich die U-Bahn fahren würde.



The subway is driverless. However, the controls are printed on the front for my driving practice, so I can pretend I'm operating the subway.



Den Bahnhof Østerport finde ich sehr viel angenehmer zum Umsteigen, speziell wenn ich vom Schiff zum Flugzeug will: viele Züge der Flughafenbahn setzen hier ein, so dass man sich in Ruhe einen Platz suchen und es ist hier sehr viel ruhiger, als am Hauptbahnhof.



I find the Østerport train station much more pleasant for changing trains, especially when I want to get from the ship to the plane: many trains of the airport railway start here so that you can look for a seat in peace and it is much quieter here than at the central station.

There are elevators and escalators everywhere; they don't exist at the central station between the platform and the tunnel. There is only one elevator, or you must go through the main hall. There is also a tiny disadvantage: very short stretches need to be covered.



Überall gibt es Fahrstühle und Rolltreppen, die gibt es am Hauptbahnhof zwischen Gleis und Tunnel nicht. Da gibt es nur den Fahrstuhl oder man muss durch die Haupthalle. Es gibt auch einen kleinen Nachteil: ganz kurze Strecken sind nicht überdacht.





Am Orientkaj sieht alles anders als damals bei der Reise auf der NORWEGIAN SUN 2012. Man sieht noch Spuren davon, dass hier mal die Kreuzfahrtterminals waren. Und jetzt fährt die U-Bahn direkt dahin: schade! In der Langfristplanung ist ja für die M4 noch eine Verlängerung zum Oceankaj vorgesehen. Mit dem Fahrstuhl kommt man runter. Wenn wir später mit Gepäck kommen, will ich nicht erst den Weg suchen, sondern gucke mich für später schon mal um. Es hat sich sehr viel getan hier: viele neue Wohnungen und Büroflächen sind hier entstanden. Viel grün und sehr viel für Fahrräder. Wenn ich endlich den Jackpot knacke, würde ich mir hier auch eine Wohnung kaufen, damit ich möglichst nahe an den Schiffen wäre.



Everything on the Orientkaj looks different than it did when it was on the NORWEGIAN SUN 2012. You can still see traces of the fact that the cruise terminals used to be here. And now the subway goes straight there: too bad! In the long-term planning, an extension to the Oceankaj is planned for the M4. You come down with the elevator. If we come later with luggage, I don't want to look for the way first, but look around for later. A lot has happened here: many new apartments and office spaces have been created here. Lots of greenery and lots for bikes. If I finally hit the jackpot, I would also buy an apartment here so that I would be as close as possible to the ships.

I have a "private charter" again. Since it is the first trip on the ferry or the port bus 991, I am the only guest. However, it runs all the time in a ping-pong system between the west and east banks, so the journey takes much longer than I thought. The two crew members mistook me for a tourist and gave me background information about the attractions. That was extremely nice. You can stand outside, and the extension to Orientkaj is therefore also suitable for ship spotters as an opportunity to photograph the cruise ships, especially since you can also pass Langelinie, which is currently not used for cruise ships because it is being renovated here and also passes Nordre Toldbod. This is where the small cruise ships dock.



Ich habe mal wieder einen "Privatcharter". Da es die erste Fahrt der Fähre bzw. des Hafenbusses 991 ist, bin ich der einzige Gast. Sie fährt allerdings die ganze Zeit im Ping-Pong-System zwischen dem West- und Ostufer, so dass die Fahrt sehr viel länger dauert, als ich dachte. Die zwei Besatzungsmitglieder halten mich für einen Touristen und geben mir Hintergrundinformationen zu den Attraktionen. Das war ausgesprochen nett. Man darf vorne draußen stehen und die Verlängerung bis Orientkaj eignet sich daher auch für Shipspotter als Möglichkeit die Kreuzfahrtschiffe zu fotografieren, zumal man auch an Langelinie vorbeikommt, der allerdings derzeit für Kreuzfahrtschiffe nicht genutzt wird, weil hier umgebaut wird und auch bei Nordre Toldbod vorbeikommt. Dort legen die kleinen Kreuzfahrtschiffe an.

The MSC EURIBIA at Terminal 3 is damn far away. So I'm glad that Casper and Jimmy drove me slowly past the ship yesterday.



Die MSC EURIBIA am Terminal 3 liegt ja doch verdammt weit weg. So bin ich froh, dass gestern Casper und Jimmy mich schon am Schiff schön langsam vorbeigefahren haben.







CLIO is very close to town and within walking distance of the Little Mermaid.



Sehr stadtnah und fussläufig von der kleinen Meerjungfrau entfernt, liegt die CLIO.

Auch jetzt habe ich wieder Zeit mich den Attraktionen von Kopenhagen zu widmen. Ich fahre am Admiral Hotel vorbei. Hier habe ich auch mal gewohnt, als ich hier zur REUNION-SHIPSPOTTING-"PARTY" NORWEGIAN SKY 2015/NORWEGIAN JADE 2017 war. Auch sehr nett und schön zentral. Bei Nyhavn gucke ich bei Spar Shipping nach, ob sich da schon etwas tut, aber da dort noch alles ruhig ist, fahre ich weiter nach Knippelsbro in Christianshavn und steige dort aus. Von hier fahre ich schnell zurück zum Hotel Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers.



Even now, I have time again to devote myself to the attractions of Copenhagen. I drive past the Admiral Hotel. I also stayed here when I was here for the REUNION SHIPSPOTTING "PARTY" NORWEGIAN SKY 2015/NORWEGIAN JADE 2017. Also very lovely and friendly central. At Nyhavn, I check Spar Shipping to see if anything is happening there, but since everything is still quiet there, I continue to Knippelsbro in Christianshavn and get off there. I quickly return to the Hotel Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers.

110% perfect yesterday. Just the opposite today. My attempt to order an omelet with ham and herbs without cheese goes wrong twice. For the first time, there is veggie instead of ham. And the second time, all full of cheese. Right away, I get something to eat on board, and I've already had a bite of Frankfurter from 7Eleven. I will survive this "assassination".



Gestern 110% perfekt. Heute genau das Gegenteil. Mein Versuch ein Omelette mit Schinken und Kräutern ohne Käse zu bestellen geht zwei Mal schief. Das erste Mal gibt es statt Schinken Veggie. Und das zweite Mal alles voll Käse. Ich bekomme ja gleich an Bord etwas zu essen und ich habe ja schon einen Bissen Frankfurter von 7Eleven hinter mir. Ich werde dieses "Attentat" überleben.





Mit der Bahn fahren wir nach Østerport und steigen dort in die M4 nach Orientkaj um. Dann läuft man quasi weiter nach vorne und stößt auf die Haltestelle der Linie 25, die einen zum Oceankaj bringt. Sie hält eigentlich bei UNICEF und wendet beim Terminal 1. Da sehr viele mit Gepäck im Bus saßen, die zum Terminal 3 wollten, war der Busfahrer so nett und hat AUSNAHMSWEISE am Terminal 3 gewendet und die Kreuzfahrer samt Gepäck abgesetzt. Aber wir haben zu Fuß auch nur wenige Minuten von der regulären Endstelle zum Terminal 3 gebraucht.



We take the train to Østerport and change to the M4 to Orientkaj. Then you walk further ahead and come across the stop for line 25, which takes you to Oceankaj. It stops at UNICEF and turns around at Terminal 1. Since many people on the bus with luggage wanted to go to Terminal 3, the bus driver was so lovely and EXCEPTIONALLY turned around at Terminal 3 and dropped off the cruisers and their luggage. But walking from the regular terminus to Terminal 3 only took a few minutes.
