Seetag/Day at Sea 3 auf der/on MSC SEASIDE

Vor uns steht auch immer der Servicewagen. Solange die Kabinenstewards damit unterwegs sind und aktiv am Reinigen sind, ist es etwas normales, dass der Servicewagen vor unserer Kabine steht. Aber bei uns steht er quasi Tag und Nacht vor unserer Kabine. Was mich ebenfalls stört: dieser Toilettenpapierhalter! Er ist zur falschen Richtung angeschraubt. Wenn man an der Rolle zieht, zieht man sie quasi aus der Halterung heraus. Der Stift, um die Rolle zurückzuhalten ist zu kurz. Was mich immer wundert: warum benutzt man eigentlich immer so Teile, die schnell rosten? Auch beim Spiegel: das Schiff ist gerade mal vier Jahre alt! Wir bekommen eine Heizkarte, weil die Klimaanlage durchgehend laufen soll. Es riecht sonst immer etwas modrig. Eine Metro-, Paket-, DeutschlandCard-Karte funktionieren als Ersatz leider nicht. Wir müssen etwas von den Lüftungsschlitzen abkleben und so ist es dann auch angenehm. Nur das Bordfernsehen: irgendwie fehlen mir Informationen, die ich bei anderen habe. Ich finde 2 USD-Scheine schon "schicker" und "weltmännischer" als unsere 1- und 2-Euro-Münzen. Wir haben ja flexible Tischzeit: daher geben wir immer bei jeder Mahlzeit ein wenig. Bei fester Tischzeit würden wir ja am Ende einen größeren Schein zusätzlich geben. Dadurch, dass ja jeden Abend immer etwas fehlt, bekommen wir zum Ausgleich immer ein wenig mehr Schokolade von Venchi. Es entwickelt sich zum Running Gag.

But with us, he stands in front of our stateroom almost day and night. What also bothers me: this toilet paper holder! It is screwed on in the wrong direction. Also, with the mirror: the ship is only four years old! We get a heating card because the air conditioning should run continuously. Otherwise, it always smells a bit musty. Unfortunately, a membership, service, or loyalty card does not work as a replacement. We have to mask something off the ventilation slots, and that's how it is pleasant. Only the onboard television: somehow, I am missing information that I have with others. I think 2 USD bills are "fancier" and "more sophisticated" than our 1 and 2 euro coins. We have flexible table times: that is why we always give a little at every meal. With a fixed table time, we would end up giving a higher-value bill. Because something is always missing every evening, we always get a little more chocolate from Venchi to compensate. It turns into a running gag.

It is nice and warm today. An excellent opportunity to spend the day on the pool deck at the Yacht Club. Finally, aqua jogging again. So far, the swimming pools in Germany were still closed. It is, therefore, suitable to "run" a few more laps, which is more relaxing on the joints. Unfortunately, I forgot my waterproof Sony Walkman at home. We could still rent cabanas spontaneously, but that's not that important to us this time. We already did it on EURODAM 2014 and KONINGSDAM 2016 and ISLAND PRINCESS 2013, and DIAMOND PRINCESS 2016. We also liked to use the serenity areas. In the panorama elevator at the stern, there is a classic control in the elevator cabin, but unfortunately no possibility to request priority for Yacht Club guests.



Es ist heute schön warm. Eine gute Gelegenheit, um den Tag auf dem Pool Deck im Yacht Club zu verbringen. Endlich mal wieder Aqua-Jogging. Bisher waren ja die Schwimmbäder in Deutschland noch geschlossen. Es tut daher gut, wieder ein paar runden gelenkschonend zu "laufen". Leider habe ich meinen wasserfesten Sony Walkman zu Hause vergessen. Wir könnten noch spontan Cabanas mieten, aber so wichtig ist uns das dieses Mal nicht. Wir haben es ja schon auf der EURODAM 2014 und KONINGSDAM 2016 gemacht und auf der ISLAND PRINCESS 2013 und DIAMOND PRINCESS 2016 haben wir ja auch gerne die Serenity-Bereiche gerne genutzt. Im Panorama-Fahrstuhl am Heck, gibt es es eine klassische Steuerung in der Fahrstuhlkabine, aber leider keine Möglichkeit Vorrang für Yacht Club-Gäste anzufordern.

Da ich ja "ausschlafen" kann, gucke ich mich nachts um. Zunächst auf den offenen Decks.

Sehr schön ist es, wie die Musiker hier präsentiert werden: überhalb der Bar. Alle Musiker hier machen einen sehr guten Eindruck. Schade, dass nicht alle auch in der Top Sail Lounge präsent sind.

Ich stelle fest, dass an den öffentlichen Bildschirmen die Buchungen von Tickets am Einfachsten ist. Also buche ich direkt meine Tickets für die weitere Shows. Ich prüfe über die Social Initiatives, ob es Treffen für Homosexuelle gibt: aber es werden gar keine soziale Initiativen angeboten.

Was soll das sein? Später erkunde ich mich noch, wie es läuft, wenn man Aurea Spa Erlebniswelt gebucht hätte, und man freie Tischzeit hätte. Hier wird mir erklärt, dass man seitlich zum Abendessen eintritt und man dann zum Tisch geführt wird. Alternativ gibt es einen Pager, um die Wartezeit zu überbrücken.

Obwohl es erst 06:00 Uhr ist, kann man bereits ins Fitnessstudio rein.

Ich finde immer noch keinen Ersatz für meinen 100% Baumwoll MSC-Hoodie, den ich auf der MSC MUSICA 2007 gekauft habe. Dafür Riesen-Wäscheklammern, um die Handtücher an den Sonnenliegen festzumachen. Sehr praktisch: ich kaufe ein paar mehr für zu Hause.

Ich gehe mal in das Marketplace SB-Restaurant. Aber ohne asiatische Reisegruppen gibt es hier kein Congee. Das Angebot ist in Ordnung. Man wird nicht verhungern, aber es gibt einfach schönere Büffets. Selbst darf man sich nicht bedienen. Man darf nur in einer Richtung ins Restaurant rein und raus laufen. Aber es bleibt bei dem einem Frühstück. Bei der MSC MERAVIGLIA 2017-Reise hat MSC noch damit geworben, dass man von 06:00 Uhr bis 02:00 Uhr nachts immer etwas zu Essen bekommt. Das hat sich geändert. Es beginnt um 06:30 Uhr und endet bereits 21:30 Uhr. Die Pizzeria ist nur noch bis Mitternacht geöffnet. Ansonsten steht bis 23:00 Uhr ein Pizza-Lieferdienst zur Verfügung.

Due to the pandemic, there are no parties and receptions. Therefore there is no free photo. The only VIP invitation comes from the shops. A Douglas Ward did not appear in 2021. So I am sending the 2020 edition to Captain Marco Massa via our concierge. He introduces himself and his senior officers before the show. In addition, you can only watch it without a mask on the onboard television. I would have had two opportunities for two selfies, but each time he was expected by super VIPs in the Top Sail Lounge. My parents and my business experiences tell me: you don't stop someone for a selfie that is actually on the way to another guest expecting them. It just didn't work out. My life goes on. Before the show, the senior officers are only allowed to take off their masks briefly, even though they are actually on stage with sufficient distance. While we wait, we see videos from the MSC VIRTUOSA currently in service in the UK. Yacht Club Director Rosalia works here. We know her from MSC MERAVIGLIA 2017. They could have included her in the video.



Pandemiebedingt gibt es keine Parties und Empfänge. Daher gibt es auch kein kostenloses Foto. Die einzige VIP Einladung kommt von den Shops. Ein Douglas Ward ist 2021 nicht erschienen. Also schicke ich die 2020-er Ausgabe über unseren Concierge zum Kapitän Marco Massa. Er stellt sich und seine Senioroffiziere vor der Show vor. Außerdem kann man sich ihn ohne Maske nur auf dem Bordfernsehen ansehen. Ich hätte zwei Gelegenheiten für zwei Selfies gehabt, aber jedes Mal wurde er von Super-VIPs in der Top Sail Lounge erwartet. Meine Eltern und meine geschäftliche Erfahrungen sagen mir: du hälst niemanden für ein Selfie auf, der eigentlich auf dem Weg zu einem anderen Gast ist, der ihn erwartet. Es hat halt nicht geklappt. Mein Leben geht weiter. Vor der Show dürfen die Senioroffiziere nur für einen kurzen Moment ihre Masken abnehmen, obwohl sie eigentlich mit ausreichendem Abstand auf der Bühne stehen. Während wir warten, sehen wir Videos von der MSC VIRTUOSA, die derzeit in Großbritannien im Einsatz ist. Hier ist Yacht Club Direktorin Rosalia im Einsatz. Wir kennen sie von der MSC MERAVIGLIA 2017. Eigentlich hätte man ja auch sie ins Video einbauen können.

Auf zum Frühstück: ich will eigentlich nur Mini-French Toast, aber es kommt ein normal großes. Und ich frage nach dem Omelette des Tages: das ist ein Omelette nach meinen Wünschen. Wir bekommen unaufgefordert frisch gepressten Orangensaft. Bruno bekommt seinen Cappuccino auf Nachfrage von der Barista Maschine unterhalb aus der Top Sail Lounge. Von nun an merken sie sich: Brunos Cappuccino immer von unten. Ich bekomme auch meine laktosefreie Milch von unten. Nur leider immer heiß. Und das bis zum Ende der Reise. Worüber ich mich besonders freue: der Service mit dem Auflegen der Stoffserviette ist zurück. Und es gibt tolles dunkles Körnerbrot. Und das bekommen wir dann auch bei jeder Mahlzeit, selbst wenn wir nicht in unserem Bereich unser Servicestation sitzen. Unser Maître d'Hôtel im Yacht Club Restaurant ist Cristian Adrian. Wie üblich, prüfe ich bei Facebook, ob es gemeinsame Freunde gibt. Zu meiner Überraschung: ja - aber niemand bei MSC, sondern bei Princess. So stellen wir fest, dass wir möglicherweise doch schon mal gemeinsam auf der ISLAND PRINCESS 2013 in Alaska unterwegs waren. Dort gibt es gemeinsame Freunde, wie Simion, den wir zuletzt auf der DIAMOND PRINCESS 2016 getroffen haben. Und er kennt auch Raffaele, den wir erstmalig auf der OCEAN PRINCESS 2010 getroffen haben und zuletzt auf der GRAND PRINCESS 2018. Klein ist die Welt!



Off to breakfast: I only want mini French toast, but a normal-sized one comes out. And I ask about the omelet of the day: that is an omelet according to my wishes. We get freshly squeezed orange juice without being asked. Bruno gets his cappuccino on request from the barista machine below in the Top Sail Lounge. From now on, they remember Bruno's cappuccino always from below. I also get my lactose-free milk from below. Unfortunately always hot. And that until the end of the trip. What I am pleased about: the service with the cloth napkin is back. And there is excellent dark grain bread. And we get that with every meal, even if we are not in our service station area. Our Maître d'Hôtel in the Yacht Club Restaurant is Cristian Adrian. As usual, I check Facebook to see if there are mutual friends. To my surprise: yes - but nobody at MSC, but Princess. So we find out that we may have been together at the ISLAND PRINCESS 2013 in Alaska after all. There are mutual friends there, like Simion, whom we last met at DIAMOND PRINCESS 2016. And he also knows Raffaele, who we met for the first time at OCEAN PRINCESS 2010 and most recently at GRAND PRINCESS 2018. The world is small!

Today we are going to try high tea time again. This time we are served by Edwin, who recognizes us immediately from the MSC MERAVIGLIA 2017. I look for the pictures, and bartender Gerald also has to indulge in my memories. But they are also very proud that I have not forgotten them and that I immediately know who they are and that they are part of my picture archive, which I can call up at any time. I Wayan, who improvised for us at high tea yesterday, is also happy that we can take a selfie with him.



Heute versuchen wir es wieder zur High Teatime. Dieses Mal werden wir von Edwin bedient, der uns auch sofort von der MSC MERAVIGLIA 2017 erkennt. Ich suche die Bilder raus und auch Barkeeper Gerald muss in meinen Erinnerungen schwelgen. Aber sie sind auch sehr stolz, dass ich sie nicht vergessen habe und sofort weiß, wer sie sind und sie Teil meines Bilderarchivs sind, die ich jederzeit abrufen kann. I Wayan, der gestern beim High Tea für uns improvisiert hat, freut sich auch darüber, dass wir ein Selfie mit ihm machen.

Mittags essen wir als Diamond-Gäste einmal kostenlos in einem Zuzahlrestaurant. Heute Mittag hat nur der Butcher's Cut geöffnet. Man darf sich etwas aus dem Gourmet-Erlebnis wählen (Vorspeise, Hauptspeise und Dessert). Ich möchte aber ein Steak von der à-la-carte Karte: ein Rib-Eye-Steak. Dafür muss ich 50% der normalen Zuzahlung zusätzlich entrichten. Ein Betrag, der sich lohnt: Mein Steak ist der Himmel auf Erden! La Dolce Vita! Pur! Der Shrimp-Cocktail ist schon erstklassig. Das Steak ist genauso, wie ich es mag. Leider immer noch viel zu viel. Ich überlege mir schon ersthaft, ob ich ein Sandwich zum Mitnehmen mir machen soll. Ich platze. Daher ist es nicht so schlimm, dass ich mit dem Eis geschmacklich nicht so viel anfangen konnte. Wir genießen aber die tolle Leistung der Galley-Crew am Grill und den spitzenmäßigen Service von Danilo und Julio. Das hat Spaß gemacht und selbst wenn wir nicht das Essen kostenlos bekommen würden: wir würden das Geld wieder ausgeben! Da ist noch ein himmelweiter Unterschied zu dem Angebot und dem Ergebnis im Yacht Club Restaurant.



At lunchtime, as Diamond guests, we eat once free of charge in an additional restaurant. Only the Butcher's Cut is open for lunch today. You can choose something from the gourmet experience (starter, main course, and dessert). But I would like a steak from the à la carte menu: a rib-eye steak. The steak is just how I like it. Unfortunately, still too much. I am already thinking about making a takeaway sandwich. I am bursting. So it is not so bad that I could not do that much with the taste of the ice cream. But we enjoy the outstanding performance of the galley crew at the grill and the excellent service from Danilo and Julio. That was fun, and even if we did not get the food for free, we would be spending the money again! There is a world of difference between the selection and the performance in the Yacht Club Restaurant.

We are having an elegant evening. For this purpose, we have our jackets with us, but no ties. From above, you can listen to the soul duo while they are eating. It is lobster night. But unfortunately, without the service of removing the shell, as was the case on the MSC MERVIGLIA 2017.



Wir haben ja eleganten Abend. Für den Zweck haben wir unsere Jackets mit, aber keine Krawatten. Von oben können dem Soul Duo beim Essen zuhören. Es ist Hummerabend. Leider ohne den Service, die Schale zu entfernen, wie damals auf der MSC MERVIGLIA 2017.

Es geht noch zur Show "Peter Punk". Organisatorisch genauso toll arrangiert, wie gestern. Wieder wurden sehr charmant die Maskenverweigerer aufgefordert, ihre Masken aufzusetzen. Wieder wurden die Gäste nach der Show geordnet aus dem Theatersaal gelotst. Aber die Show ist quasi die gleiche Zusammenstellung wie gestern bei "Fly". Nur mit anderen Kostümen und mit anderen Künstlern. Aber wieder der Kindergeburtstag von MSC und leider wieder kein Broadway-Las Vegas-Westend-Spektakel wie bei der MSC MERAVIGLIA 2017.
