Tag/Day 0.B auf dem Weg/on the way to MSC WORLD EUROPA in Barcelona, Spain

Wir fahren frühmorgens in die Nähe des Aquariums, weil ich zum Shipspotting will. Das Aquarium haben wir damals während unserer Reise mit der MSC SEASIDE 2021 besucht. Aber wir müssen nochmals hin, da wir uns ja während der Covid-19-Pandemie nicht frei bewegen konnten. Daher kommen wir noch im Dunkeln an und wir erleben wie Morgendämmerung im alten Hafen. So schön.



We drove near the aquarium early because I wanted to go shipspotting. We visited the aquarium during our trip with the MSC SEASIDE 2021. But we must go again because we couldn't move freely during the Covid-19 pandemic. That's why we arrive in the dark and experience what feels like dawn in the old harbor. So beautiful.

There is a public ferry (Navebus) in Genoa that I always wanted to try out: it should pass so close to the shipyard that you should be able to see the BRILLIANT LADY and take a photo of it. Bruno even comes so early because there is a free charging station near the ferry dock at the aquarium. But a nasty surprise awaits us there. The ferry service is stopped due to bad weather... I can hardly believe it when I look at the sky.



Es gibt in Genua eine öffentliche Fähre (Navebus), die ich unbedingt immer mal ausprobieren wollte: sie müsste eigentlich so nah an der Werft vorbeifahren, dass man die BRILLIANT LADY sehen müsste und fotografieren kann. Bruno kommt sogar so früh mit, weil es in der Nähe des Fähranlegers am Aquarium eine freie Ladesäule gibt. Aber dort erwartet uns eine böse Überraschung. Der Fährbetrieb ist eingestellt: wegen schlechten Wetters... kann ich kaum glauben, wenn ich in den Himmel gucke.







I discovered that there is a harbor tour offered in Genoa. But unfortunately, it's no longer possible today — other boat trips, e.g., to Portofino, Italy, (MSC MERAVIGLIA 2017) or Cinque Terre, Italy (OCEAN PRINCESS 2010).



Zufällig entdecke ich, dass es in Genua doch eine Hafenrundfahrt angeboten wird. Aber heute geht es leider nicht mehr. Auch werden weitere Bootsausflüge z. B. nach Portofino (MSC MERAVIGLIA 2017) oder Cinque Terre (OCEAN PRINCESS 2010).

Ich habe vom Hotelzimmer aus die VENUS JUPITER in der Zufahrt auf den Hafen gesehen. Deswegen wird Bruno jetzt bis zum Ende des Piers im alten Hafen gejagt. Aber das Schiff ist verschwunden. Wo ist es hin? Ein Blick auf Marine Traffic: es hat gar keinen Anlauf am Kreuzfahrtterminal, sondern nur ins Trockendock in der Werft. Dumm gelaufen: das kann man leider nur sehen, wenn man bei der Küstenwache arbeitet. Zum Trost gibt es bei Foocaccia für 5,00 EUR (2023), 2 Espressi, 2 Gläser Wasser und 2 Cornetti. Deswegen sind wir auch um die frühe Zeit die einzigen Touristen hier. Der Rest alles Einheimische, die hier arbeiten.



I saw the VENUS JUPITER from my hotel room at the harbor entrance. That's why Bruno is now being chased to the end of the pier in the old harbor. But the ship has disappeared. Where did it go? A look at Marine Traffic: it doesn't call at the cruise terminal at all, but only in the dry dock in the shipyard. It was stupid: unfortunately, you can only see that if you work for the Coast Guard. As a consolation, Foocaccia offers two espressos, two glasses of water, and two cornetti for 5.00 EUR (2023). That's why we are the only tourists here at this early hour. The rest are all locals who work here.









We drive back to the hotel for breakfast. But I had better memories of the stay before MSC MERAVIGLIA 2017.



Wir fahren zurück zum Hotel zum Frühstück. Ich hatte aber damals bei dem Aufenthalt vor der MSC MERAVIGLIA 2017 in besserer Erinnerung.

Am besten sieht man die VENUS JUPITER noch vom Hotelzimmer aus. Aber mit Sicherheit dann, wenn wir mit der MSC WORLD EUROPA in drei Tagen hier einlaufen. So schnell dürften sie wohl kaum fertig werden.

We continue to the Ponte dei Mille garage. The entrance is to the ramp's left, back to the expressway. We have to hand over the keys, and they drive the car. Here, we pay 60 EUR (2023) for three days of parking. We must pick up the car here because it has nothing to do with MSC.



Weiter geht es zur Garage Ponte dei Mille. Die Zufahrt liegt links neben der Auffahrt zurück zur Schnellstraße. Wir müssen die Schlüssel abgeben und sie fahren das Auto rein. Hier zahlen wir 60 EUR (2023) für drei Tage Parken. Wir müssen das Auto hier wieder abholen, weil es nichts mit MSC zu tun hat.





Gestern Abend hatte ich bereits beschlossen, dass ich keine Lust habe, mit Gepäck zum Bahnhof Piazza Principe hochzulaufen, um den Flughafenbus Volabus zu erreichen. So rufen wir ein Taxi. Das kommt schon wenige Minuten später und bringt uns zum Festpreis von 25,00 EUR (nachts und an Feiertagen 27,00 EUR - 2023) zum Flughafen.



Last night, I had already decided I didn't feel like walking up to Piazza Principe train station with luggage to catch the Volabus airport bus. So we called a taxi. It arrives just a few minutes later and takes us to the airport for a fixed price of 25.00 EUR (27.00 EUR at night and on public holidays - 2023).



Wir fliegen mit Vueling nach Barcelona. Ich wäre ja lieber mit der Bahn gefahren, aber das war um einiges teurer (abgesehen von der Dauer). Ich hatte uns extra das französiche Pendent zur deutschen BahnCard besorgt, aber das gilt bei internationalen Fahrten gar nicht. Abgesehen davon hätten wir zwei Mal umsteigen müssen: bis Ventimiglia - danach mit Regionalzügen nach Marseille und dort hätten wir erst die Hochgeschwidigkeitszüge von RENFE oder SNCF bekommen. Das war doch zu viel Stress. Wir haben Priority bei Vueling, dann darf man auch zwei Gepäckstücke mitführen, man sitzt vorne und hat 1-2 cm mehr Beinfreiheit. Priority bedeutet auch: man darf länger in der Schlange stehen als alle anderen: man darf sich als erste anstellen und wartet bis dass alle Passagiere in einer Schlange sich aufgereiht haben und dann darf man als erster ins Flugzeug reinmarschieren.



We fly to Barcelona, Spain, with Vueling. I would have preferred to take the train, but that was a lot more expensive (apart from the duration). I mainly got us the French equivalent of the German BahnCard (discount pass), but that does not apply to international journeys. Apart from that, we would have had to change twice: to Ventimiglia, Italy - then with regional trains to Marseille, France, and there we would only have gotten the high-speed trains from RENFE or SNCF. That was too much stress. We have priority at Vueling, so you can carry two pieces of luggage. You sit in the front and have 1-2 cm more legroom. Priority also means standing in line longer than everyone else; you can be the first to queue and wait until all the passengers have lined up, and then you can be the first to board the plane.



Wir waren ja schon auf der VALIANT LADY 2022. Nun sehen wir das 4. Schiff von Virgin Voyages im Bau: BRILLIANT LADY.

Ich erkenne noch ein weiteres Schiff, das sich im Bau befindet. Es müsste wohl die ALLURA von Oceania sein.

Der Flug ist pünktlich. Warum auch immer, der Pilot versucht wohl einen Violinschlüssel im Anflug abzubilden. Der Space Plus Platz ist ganz nett. Aber das Essen, sie verkaufen ist ganz schrecklich. Nie wieder!

Approaching Barcelona: for the alarmists who claim that the ships now have to dock far out, It only affects the part of the World Trade Center: the round building in the middle of the picture. In the second picture, you can see a ship at Mol Adossat: so we're not talking from Venice, Italy, to Trieste, Italy, or Ravenna, Italy, but from the World Trade Center to Mol Adossat. It's so close that it even fits in a photo. From the other perspective, another ship is lying at the other end of the Mol Adossat.

Und im zweiten Bild sieht man ein Schiff am Mol Adossat: wir reden also nicht von Venedig nach Triest oder Ravenna, sondern vom World Trade Center nach Mol Adossat. Das ist so nah, dass es sogar auf einem Foto passt. Von der anderen Perspektive ein weiteres Schiff, das am anderen Ende der Mol Adossat liegt.





Am Terminal D liegt die COSTA FORTUNA. Zufällig ist sogar unser Ausflugsanbieter aus Kusadasi drauf: Deniz von Ephesus deluxe. Wir waren mit ihm auf der NORWEGIAN JADE 1 (2011), NORWEGIAN JADE 1 (2014) und NORWEGIAN JADE 2 (2014) mit ihnen unterwegs. Und jetzt auch wieder, wenn wir im Frühjahr statt nach Israel und Ägypten u.a. nach Kusadasi mit der CELEBRITY INFINITY umgeleitet werden. Übrigens: zwischen Terminal E und D haben wir zuletzt geparkt. Und die Alternative wäre unterirdisch am World Trade Center. Das habe ich aber bereits im Blog der QUEEN ELIZABETH 2023 erläutert.



The COSTA FORTUNA is located at Terminal D. Coincidentally, our private tour operator from Kusadasi, Turkey, is also on it: Deniz von Ephesus deluxe. We were with him on the NORWEGIAN JADE 1 (2011), NORWEGIAN JADE 1 (2014), and NORWEGIAN JADE 2 (2014) with them. And now again when we are redirected to Kusadasi with the CELEBRITY INFINITY instead of to Israel and Egypt in the spring. By the way: we last parked between Terminals E and D. And the alternative would be underground at the World Trade Center. I have already explained this in the QUEEN ELIZABETH 2023 blog.

Then there is MSC DIVINA here. I would like to know whether they have finished washing the laundry they hung up at the back of QUEEN ELIZABETH 2023 or are still washing.



Dann liegt hier noch die MSC DIVINA. Da hätte mich eigentlich interessiert, ob sie mittlweile die Wäsche fertiggewaschen haben, die sie vor der QUEEN ELIZABETH 2023 hinten am Heck aufgehangen haben oder noch immer am Waschen sind.

Da unser Hotel fast an der Haltestelle vom Plaza Espana liegt, nehmen wir ausnahmsweise den Flughafenbus Aerobus A1. Wir ärgern uns, weil das Online-Ticketing nicht funktioniert. Die Fahrkartenautomaten auch nicht, aber die Mädels vor dem Bus funktionieren gut. Genau vor der Nase fährt der Bus weg. Aber im nächsten Moment wird bereits der nächste Bus eingesetzt. Weil aber hinter unserem noch ein weiterer Bus steht, fährt unser ab, ob wohl er noch gar nicht voll ist. Einer schrieb, wie schrecklich voll das im Bus sei, aber davon können wir nichts feststellen. Wir steigen unmittelbar am Plaza Espana aus.



Since our hotel is almost at the Plaza Espana stop, we take the Aerobus A1 airport bus exceptionally. We are annoyed because online ticketing doesn't work. The ticket machines don't either, but the girls in front of the bus work well. The bus drives away right in front of our noses. But the next moment, the next bus will be deployed. But because another bus is behind ours, ours leaves, even though it isn't complete yet. Someone wrote about how crowded the bus was, but we need help finding evidence. We get off directly at Plaza Espana.








Wir sind wieder im Hotel Gran Via Plaza Espana (künftig Indigo Plaza Espana). Hier waren wir ja vor kurzem vor unserer Reise auf der QUEEN ELIZABETH 2023. Wieder werden wir im 8. Stock in einem renovierten Zimmer untergebracht. Unsere Wäsche ist fertig, so haben wir auch etwas auf der MSC WORLD EUROPA zum Anziehen. Alles ist genauso gut wie zuvor.



We are back at the Hotel Gran Via Plaza Espana (future Indigo Plaza Espana). We were here recently before our trip on the QUEEN ELIZABETH 2023. Again, we will be accommodated in a renovated room on the 8th floor. Our laundry is ready, so we have something to wear on the MSC WORLD EUROPA. Everything is just as good as before.

First, we go down to the Metro station to buy some tickets. But there are no day tickets at all, only 2-day tickets. So we must purchase individual tickets that keep you from changing trains. What annoys me is that you must walk to another part of the subway (up and down the stairs) to find a machine. I'm glad we took the Aerobus airport bus, which stops at street level. What I like about Barcelona is that the street musicians who play in the subway here have to go through a casting before they get permission to perform. That's why the musicians here are usually outstanding.



Zunächst gehen wir in den U-Bahnhof runter, um ein paar Fahrkarten zu kaufen. Aber es gibt gar keine Tageskarten, sondern nur 2-Tageskarten. Also müssen wir Einzelkarten kaufen, mit denen man nicht umsteigen darf. Was mich nervt: man muss hier in einen anderen Teil der U-Bahn laufen (Treppe rauf und runter), um einen Automaten zu finden. Ich bin froh, dass wir den Aerobus Flughafenbus genommen haben, der direkt auf Straßenebene hält. Was ich sehr gerne in Barcelona mag: die Straßenmusiker, die hier in der U-Bahn spielen, müssen zuvor in ein Casting bevor sie die Auftrittserlaubnis erhalten. Deswegen sind die Musiker hier in der Regel sehr gut.

Es dauert etwas länger, als wir mit viel Glück den Lageplan der Bushaltestellen finden: ich suche Bus D20, der jedoch nicht am Platz sondern in einer der Zufahrtsstraßen (links neben Arenas) hält. Außerdem bemerken wir später: aufgrund einer Baustelle, hält er nochmals in Richtung Hafen direkt an der Ausfahrststraße nochmals.

Man kann einfach seine kontaklose Kreditkarte beim Fahrer einlesen und es werden 2,40 EUR abgebucht. Der Bus hält jetzt in Les Drassenes und das ist direkt um die Ecke vom World Trade Center. Am World Trade Center endet jetzt der Bus V11. Sie biegt aber vor Plaza Espana rechts ab.

We need something to eat and go to the Arenas shopping center (formerly the Bullring). Here we go for a quick bite to eat at BOKA. I am surprised to see the Russian description of the offer. I made a mistake in my decision: I take churros. However, because I don't want hot chocolate with it, Nutella is served to me. Pretty expensive: I want to go back to Genoa!



Wir brauchen eine Kleinigkeit zu Essen und gehen in das Einkaufszentrum Arenas (früher Stierkampfarena). Hier gehen wir schnell bei BOKA eine Kleinigkeit essen. Mit Verwunderung sehe ich die russische Beschreibung des Angebots. Ich mache einen Fehler bei meiner Entscheidung: ich nehme Churros. Weil ich allerdings keine heiße Schokolade dazu will, wird mir Nutella raufgemacht. Ganz schön teuer: ich will zurück nach Genua!

Wir gehen wieder ins Casa de Tapas Canota. Sie haben aber auch in der Auslage Sachen, die nichts mit Tapas zu tun haben. So bestellen wir nur die Kartoffeln und dann Tellergerichte, die wir uns teilen. So gibt es Fisch und Bratwurst. Das wichtigste ist jedoch der Nachtisch: Bruno nimmt katalanische Creme und ich eine Kugel Sandro Desii Zitronensorbet.



We go back to Casa de Tapas Canota. But they also have things on display that have nothing to do with tapas. So we order the potatoes and then plate dishes that we share. There is fish and bratwurst. The most important thing, however, is dessert: Bruno has Catalan cream, and I have a scoop of Sandro Desii lemon sorbet.

While walking through this afternoon, we noticed the Frankfurt Station restaurant. Whether Is there Frankfurter Grüne Sauce and Ebbelwoi here? Later, when we returned to the hotel, the whole place was full of motorcycles.



Beim Durchlaufen fiel uns heute Nachmittag schon das Lokal Frankfurt Station auf. Ob es hier Frankfurter Grüne Sauce und Ebbelwoi gibt? Später als wir zurück ins Hotel laufen, steht der ganze Platz voller Motorräder.
