Tag/Day 5 nach der/after MSC MAGNIFICA in Venice - Treviso, Italy

Im Fernsehen läuft das ZDF-Morgenmagazin. In der heute Express werden Bilder aus Venedig gezeigt: unglaublich, dass der Markusplatz unter Wasser steht. Wir hatten wohl total Glück. Uns hat Gudrun erklärt, dass hier das Wasser aus der Kanalisation gedrückt wird und nur den Bereich rund um den Markusplatz betrifft. Seit einem Jahr ist Modulo Sperimentale Elettromeccanico (MO.S.E.), die Flutschutzanlage von Venedig in Betrieb. Sie hat wohl schlimmeres verhindert.



The German TV Morning Show runs on television. The TV news show pictures from Venice: it's unbelievable that St. Mark's Square is underwater. We were fortunate. Gudrun explained that the water is being pushed out of the sewer system and only affects the area around St. Mark's Square. Venice's flood protection system (Modulo Sperimentale Elettromeccanico (MO.S.E.)) has been in operation for a year, and she probably prevented worse.

Back to breakfast: today it's not that crowded. And so we can have breakfast in peace. But I'm still missing a special kick. There are also difficulties with my lactose-free milk because I have to ask several times.



Wieder zum Frühstück: Heute ist es nicht so voll. Und so können wir in Ruhe frühstücken. Aber mir fehlt immer noch ein besonderer Kick. Schwierigkeiten gibt es auch bei meiner laktosefreien Milch, weil ich da mehrmals nachfragen muss.

Mit dem Bus geht es in die Lagunenstadt. Am Piazza Roma gehen wir kurz auf das Dach der Garage San Marco hoch. Von hier hat man einen tollen Ausblick. Auch zum leeren Kreuzfahrtterminal. Man soll die Schlüssel im Auto lassen. Hier in Italien? Die "netten" Seemöwen sitzen auf den Autodächern und nutzen sie als Toiletten. Ich glaube, dass ich hier mein Auto nicht stehen lassen möchte.



The bus takes you to the lagoon city. At Piazza Roma, we briefly go up to the roof of the Garage San Marco. You have a great view and the empty cruise terminal from here. It would be best if you left the keys in the car. Here in Italy? The "nice" seagulls sit on the car roofs and use them as toilets. I don't think I want to leave my car here.

We go over to the Santa Lucia train station. In the Tentazioni Café, we start with the first cappuccino of the day.

Wir fahren nach Treviso. Das liegt vor den Toren Venedigs auf dem Weg nach Triest. Die Fahrt dauert ca. 30 Minuten.



We're going to Treviso, Italy, which is at the gates of Venice, on the way to Trieste. The journey takes about 30 minutes.

The same rules still apply as in May 2021, when we were en route before and after MSC SEASIDE 2021.



Es gelten immer noch die Regeln, wie im Mai 2021, als wir vor und nach der MSC SEASIDE 2021 unterwegs waren.

Es ergab sich bei Gudrun doch noch eine Gelegenheit uns etwas zu zeigen. Wir wollten nicht in die Lagunenstadt und daher schlägt sie die Gartens- und Wasserstadt Treviso vor. Unterwegs kann ich von Venchi meine Nougatine kaufen. Ich gucke einem Straßenmaler zu. Und an der Brust einer Frauenstatue trinke ich etwas. Gudrun erklärt uns, dass wohl bei bestimmten Wahlsiegern auch öffentliche Laibung stattfanden: dann floss aber kein Wasser, sondern Wein! Wir lernen, dass der Radicchio aus Treviso besonders schmackhaft aber auch unbezahlbar sein soll. Es ist ein sehr schöner Rundgang. Wir werden an St. Martin erinnert. Das waren wir noch Zeiten, als wir noch singend mit Laternen von Tür zu Tür gezogen sind.



There was still another opportunity to show us something at Gudrun's. We didn't want to go to the lagoon city, so she suggested the garden and water city of Treviso. On the way, I can buy my nougatine from Venchi. I watch a street painter. And I have a drink on the breast of a woman's statue. Gudrun explains that there were probably public soffits for sure election winners: then there was no water, but wine! We learn that the radicchio from Treviso should be particularly tasty but also priceless. It's a lovely tour. We are reminded of St. Martin. We were still in the days when we went from door to door with lanterns singing.

Unfortunately, we no longer see life on the fish market, and that's why we can shoot again here quickly. Is that a beaver in the water? Bottles of Transcontinental Rum Line cruise ships are in a liquor store and a rarity from various manufacturers from the Caribbean.



Das Leben auf dem Fischmarkt bekommen wir leider nicht mehr mit. Daher können wir hier auch schnell wieder drehen. Ist das im Wasser ein Biber? In einem Alkoholladen stehen Flaschen mit Kreuzfahrtschiffen von Transcontinental Rum Line. Eine Rarität verschiedener Hersteller aus der Karibik.

Wir gehen gemeinsam mit Gudrun ins das Restaurant Da Pino essen. Wir lassen Gudrun wieder für uns alle bestellen und teilen das. Auch lassen wir uns von Gudrun zeigen, wie man Salat am Tisch anmacht, wenn man keinen kleinen Messbecher und Schneebesen hat. Den bräuchte ich immer, um meine Salatsaucen anzurichten.



We go to the Da Pino restaurant for dinner with Gudrun. We let Gudrun order for all of us again and share it. We also let Gudrun show us how to prepare a salad at the table if you don't have a small measuring cup and whisk, and I always need it to prepare my salad dressings.

After lunch, we walked back to the train station and got back to Venice. Here we say goodbye to Gudrun and walk on the other side of the Grand Canal back to the bus station in Piazza Roma.



Nach dem Essen laufen wir zurück zum Bahnhof und fahren zurück nach Venedig. Hier verabschieden wir uns von Gudrun und laufen auf der anderen Uferseite des Canale Grande zurück zum Busbahnhof am Piazza Roma.

Wir wollten nicht schon wieder im Hotel essen. Also nehmen wir ACTV-Bus 15 zum Bahnhof Mestre. Leider vergessen wir eine Kleinigkeit (ICH ALS LOGISTIKER!!!). Abends fliegt ja nichts mehr vom Flughafen und daher fährt der Bus auch nicht mehr, als wir später zurück wollen. Aber es war auch kein Problem ein Taxi zu nehmen: wir wurden alle drei mitgenommen, weil in Venetien eine nicht so restritive Regelung gilt. Ich konnte ganz normal auf dem Beifahrersitz mitfahren. Wir essen im Restaurant Moro. Ich habe mich geärgert. Ich bin ja Tartar-Liebhaber und verbinde aber Tartar immer mit Frankreich. Ich habe es nicht genommen! Und er macht hier alles frisch: gefühlt haben alle anderen Tische Tartar genommen. Es wurde immer am Tisch zubereitet, sogar für diejenigen, die gekommen sind, um mitzunehmen. Und ich habe es nicht genommen! Ich Trottel!!! Die anderen sind mit ihrer Auswahl "glücklich" bis auf eine Auswahl: uns wurde ja empfohlen, dass wir unbedingt Baccalà probieren müssten, wenn wir in Venedig sind. Ein absolutes Muss - und wir lernen auch: auch wenn die Portugiesen die Erfindung für sich einklagen: es waren die Venezianer. Also gut: Venedig trägt sehr viel zur Kultur der Menschheit bei, aber Baccalà ist es defitiv nicht. Hoffentlich haben sie im Juli 2022 auf, wenn wir wieder in Venedig sind: damit ich dann das Tartar essen kann.



We didn't want to eat at the hotel again. So we take ACTV bus 15 to Mestre train station. Unfortunately, we forget one little thing (ME AS A LOGISTICSIST !!!). Nothing flies from the airport in the evening, so the bus doesn't go any more than we want to return later. But it wasn't a problem to take a taxi either: all three of us were taken because the Veneto is not so restrictive. I was able to ride in the front passenger seat as standard. We eat in the Moro restaurant. I was angry. I'm a tartar lover, but I always associate tartar with France. I didn't take it! And it makes everything fresh here: it feels like all the other tables have taken tartar. It was always prepared at the table, even for those who came to take it away. And I didn't take it! I fool !!! The others are "happy" with their selection except for one choice: it was recommended to us that we absolutely have to try Baccalà when we are in Venice. An absolute must - and we also learn: even if the Portuguese claim the invention for themselves: it was the Venetians. All right: Venice contributes a lot to human culture, but it is definitely not Baccalà. Hopefully, they will be open in July 2022 when we are back in Venice: so that I can then eat the tartare.
