Tag/Day 4 auf der/on MSC MAGNIFICA in Monfalcone - Venice, Italy

Als wir die letzten Sachen packen, sehe ich dass wir auch Schlappen und Bademäntel im Schrank haben. Das hat gut geklappt! Wir sind ja MSC Voyagers Club Diamond-Mitglieder und daher bekommen wir diese Sachen.



As we pack the last things, I see that we also have slippers and bathrobes in the closet. That worked out fine! We're MSC Voyagers Club Diamond members, and that's why we get these things.

Very annoying: there was no breakfast in the cabin and no breakfast in the main restaurant. How do I'm not too fond of that: Breakfast in the self-service restaurant on the day of disembarkation.



Sehr ärgerlich: es gab nicht nur kein Frühstück in der Kabine, sondern auch kein Frühstück im Hauptrestaurant. Wie hasse ich das: Frühstücken im SB-Restaurant am Ausschiffungstag.

Durch das Drehen des Schiffes vor dem Anlegen, kann ich wieder schöne Bilder von der DISCOVERY PRINCESS aufnehmen.

Und auch die MSC SEASHORE ist wieder da.

Wir prüfen, wann wir von Bord müssen. Ganz schön viele Busse. Wir müssen in den allerersten Bus. Sie haben alle Gäste für den Flughafen auf drei Busse aufgeteilt, damit es nicht so voll wird.



We check when we have to disembark — quite many buses, and we have to get on the very first bus. They have allocated all the guests for the airport on three buses, so it doesn't get too crowded.

We have to drag the luggage from the baggage hall onto the bus ourselves.

Das geht aber sehr zügig.

In unserem Bus 2 fahren aber auch einige Gäste mit, die für Bus 5 vorgesehen waren. Man hat den Gästen nicht mitgeteilt, dass wir in Monfalcone ankommen und erst noch nach Venedig gebracht werden müssen. Sie haben sich so frühe Flüge gebucht, dass es kaum zu machen ist. Unterwegs stehen wir im Stau. Ihre Reisebüros haben sie nicht informiert, sagen sie. Anscheinend haben sie nicht mitbekommen, dass die großen Kreuzfahrtschiffe nicht mehr in Venedig anlegen dürfen. Wir hören, wie sie verzweifelt versuchen ihre Airlines anzurufen und umzubuchen. Haben sie keinen Zettel in der Kabine gefunden, dass sie per Bus zum Flughaben gebracht werden? Wurden sie nicht von Venedig nach Monfalcone mit dem Bus gebracht? Warum tuns sie so überrascht? Jetzt auf der Rückfahrt? Sie behaupten, dass es nirgends auf der MSC-Homepage stehen würde. Das kann ich jedoch nicht auf MSC sitzenlassen und zeige denen, dass es auf der Homepage stand.



In our bus 2, some guests were intended for bus 5. The guests have not been informed that we will arrive in Monfalcone and have yet to be brought to Venice. They have booked your flights so early that they can hardly do it. On the way, we are stuck in a traffic jam. Their travel agents have not informed them, they say. Apparently, they didn't notice that the big cruise ships were no longer allowed to dock in Venice. We hear them desperately trying to call their airlines and rebook them. Didn't you find a note in the cabin stating that you would be taken to the airport by bus? Weren't they taken from Venice to Monfalcone by bus? Why are you so surprised? Now on the way back? They claim it won't be listed anywhere on the MSC homepage. But I can't leave that on MSC and show them that it was on the homepage.

Pietro from Venice Car Service picks us up at the airport and drives us straight to the Hilton Garden Inn. So we can briefly put our luggage in the room and then continue straight away. We won't get a suite this time, but everything fits. I want to thank Sara for taking great care of my transport problems. From a logistical point of view, it is simply better than spending the night on the lagoon.



Am Flughafen holt uns Pietro von Venice Car Service ab und fährt uns direkt zum Hilton Garden Inn. So können wir kurz unser Gepäck ins Zimmer stellen und fahren danach gleich weiter. Eine Suite bekommen wir dieses Mal nicht, aber es passt alles. Bei Sara bedanke ich mich, dass sie sich so toll um meine Transportprobleme gekümmert hat. Logistisch ist es einfach besser, als auf der Lagune zu übernachten.

Am Flughafen zuvor war es etwas blöd, weil der Bus am Busbahnhof für Charterbusse ankam und so muss man ein Stück zum Terminal laufen. Aber das wussten wir leider nicht zuvor, sonst hätten wir Pietro gebeten zum Busbahnhof zu kommen.



At the airport, before it was a bit stupid because the bus arrived at the bus station for charter buses and so you had to walk a bit to the terminal. But unfortunately, we didn't know that beforehand; otherwise, we would have asked Pietro to come to the bus station.

Pietro is waiting for us to get back into the hotel and drive to the restaurant. And he stays in front of the restaurant to take my family to the airport later. We had offered him that he could eat with us. But he's a professional.



Pietro wartet, dass wir wieder im Hotel einsteigen und zum Restaurant fahren. Und er wartet vor dem Restaurant, um meine Famlie später weiter zum Flughafen zu fahren. Wir hatten ihm angeboten, dass er mit uns essen darf. Aber er ist ein Profi.

Wir hatten von Luigina Romors Familie einen sehr guten Tipp bekommen, wo wir in der Nähe vom Hilton Garden Inn und Flughafen noch schön mittags gemeinsam essen gehen zu können. Im Stadtteil Campalto ist die Trattoria Al Passo. Es ist im Michelin-Führer gelistet: eine Küche mit guter Qualität. Es ist nicht billig, aber preiswert! Ein tolles Meeresfrüchte-Restaurant mit sehr leckerem Essen, tolles Personal und eine charmante Inneneinrichtung. Wir bitten darum, uns etwas zusammenzustellen, was wir uns wieder teilen können. Es kommt die perfekte Zusammenstellung. Im Gedanken sitzt mein Vater mit am Tisch. Ihm hätte es hier gefallen und er hätte sehr viel Freude gehabt, in dieser Runde mit uns zu essen. Sigi, Bruno und ich bleiben noch ein paar Stunden länger, während meine Familie zum Flughafen gefahren wird.



We got an excellent tip from Luigina Romor's family, where we can have lunch together near the Hilton Garden Inn and the airport. In the Campalto district is the Trattoria Al Passo. It's listed in the Guide Michelin. It's not cheap, but inexpensive! A great seafood restaurant with delicious food, great staff, and a charming interior. We ask that we put something together that we can share again. The perfect combination comes out. My father is sitting at the table in his mind. He would have liked it here and had a lot of fun eating with us in this group. Sigi, Bruno, and I stay a few hours longer while my family is driven to the airport.

It's dry and not cold. Sigi and Bruno take the opportunity to walk back to the hotel. It always goes along the water.



Es ist trocken und nicht kalt. Sigi und Bruno nutzen die Gelegenheit zu Fuß zurück zum Hotel zu laufen. Es geht immer entlang des Wassers.





Ich laufe zur Haltestelle der ACTV-Linie 5, die den Flughafen mit unserem Hotel und der Lagunenstadt verbindet. Die Haltestelle ist nur zwei Blocks vom Restaurant entfernt. Bevor der nächste Bus kommt, schaffe ich es schnell nochmals mein Profil in der AVM-App zu aktualisieren. So kann ich direkt ein 75-Minuten-Ticket für 1,50 EUR (2021) lösen. Hier muss ich keinen Zuschlag bezahlen, den man nur in der ACTV-Linie 5 bezahlen muss, wenn man vom/zum Flughafen fährt.



I walk to the ACTV line 5 stop, connecting the airport with our hotel and the lagoon city. The bus stop is only two blocks from the restaurant. Before the next bus arrives, I can quickly update my profile in the AVM app again. So I can buy a 75-minute ticket for 1.50 EUR (2021) straight away. I don't have to pay a surcharge here, which you only have to pay on ACTV line 5 when driving to/from the airport.

I'll be back at the hotel in a few minutes: Olanda/Appia stop.



In wenigen Minuten bin ich wieder zurück am Hotel: Haltestelle Olanda/Appia.

Wir haben mittags so gut gegessen, dass wir abends nur eine Kleinigkeit im Hotel essen wollen.



We ate so well at lunchtime that we only wanted to have a bite to eat in the hotel in the evening.

There is one thing I don't like: when I have the impression that other guests are better served by their waiters: For example, further guests are offered grain rolls without being asked. We have to ask for it, and I hate that!



Ich mag eines nicht: wenn ich den Eindruck habe, dass andere Gäste von ihren Kellnern besser bedient werden: z. B. bekommen andere Gäste unaufgefordert auch Körnerbrötchen angeboten. Wir müssen danach fragen. ich hasse das!

Wenigstens bekommen wir ungefragt Olivenöl und Balsamico-Essig.



At least we get olive oil and balsamic vinegar without asking.

The Caesar salad looks a bit colorless.



Der Cäsar-Salat sieht etwas farblos aus.

Mein Hamburger war ok. Aber nochmals müsste ich jetzt hier keinen essen. Morgen fahren wir doch lieber raus nochmals zum Essen.
