Tag/Day 3 auf der/on MSC MAGNIFICA in Split, Croatia

Alles blöd! Unser Balkon war nass. Die Sonne konnte sich auch nicht entschließen ob sie sich nun zeigt oder nicht. Der Tag begann nicht besonders vielversprechend. Aber von Minute zu Minute wurde es immer besser und später war es richtig sonnig und schön.



All stupid! Our balcony was wet, and the sun couldn't decide whether it would show itself or not. The day didn't start promisingly. But from minute to minute it got better and better and later it was sunny and beautiful.

I ordered the Continental Deluxe Breakfast on the Internet for 14.00 EUR (2021). By continental breakfast in Europe, I mean everything possible, but nothing warm and no sausage and cheese platters. And in the US, I mean a couple of cornflakes, milk, and a muffin. I would have liked to have it for the day of disembarkation, but that is not possible. It's a shame that you don't write that in beforehand when you order. I was a little surprised that nobody knows what is on offer onboard, but that is not offered onboard at all. I also checked when ordering the birthday cake, but somehow I was not too fond that nobody wanted to know what drinks we wanted. The receptionist gave me the telephone number of Assistant Maître D' and the program. I hate it like the plague when someone smears something on me! They had promised me that we would take care of it at dinner, but to my surprise, a call came, and I was asked which drinks we would like in which cabin. What each room got would have been enough for a family of several. That was good, and it was a great deal for the price. After yesterday's stress, it was lovely. I would book that again at any time and would be happy to take days with early excursions again. And next time, I would take a giant Tupperware box to store a few things in the fridge.



Ich hatte im Internet für 14,00 EUR (2021) das Kontinentale Deluxe Frühstück bestellt. Ich verstehe unter kontinentales Frühstück in Europe alles Mögliche, aber nichts Warmes und keine Wurst- und Käseplatte. Und in den USA verstehe ich darunter ein paar Cornflakes, Milch und ein Muffin. Ich hätte es gerne für den Ausschiffungstag gehabtk, aber das geht nicht. Schade, dass man das auch nicht vorher bei der Bestellung reinschreibt. Ich hatte mich etwas gewundert, dass man eigentlich das Angebot an Bord nicht kennt, aber das wird an Bord gar nicht angeboten. Auch hatte ich beim Bestellen des Geburtstagskuchen nachgehakt, aber irgendwie gefiel es mir nicht, dass kein Mensch wissen wollte, was wir an Getränken haben wollten. Ich bekam von der Rezeption die Telefonnummer vom Assistant Maître D' und das auf dem Programm. Das hasse ich wie die Pest, wenn mir jemand da etwas daraufschmiert! Man hatte mir versprochen uns beim Abendessen sich darum zu kümmern, aber zu meiner Überraschung kam dann ein Anruf und man fragte mich tatsächlich ab, welche Getränke wir in welcher Kabine haben möchten. Was jedes Zimmer dann bekam hätte wohl insgesamt für eine mehrköpfige Familie gereicht. Das war echt gut und für den Preis, war es ein spitzenmäßiges Angebot. Nach dem Stress von gestern, war es ganz nett. Das würde ich jederzeit wieder buchen und eben Tagen mit frühen Ausflügen gerne wieder in Anspruch nehmen. Und ich würde das nächste Mal eine größere Tupperdose mitnehmen, um ein paar Sachen im Kühlschrank zu lagern.

Mit der Heckbalkonkabine habe ich sehr viel Glück: die SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE kam herein und so hatte ich einen Logenplatz um mein 2. Frühstück zu genießen. Sigi dachte wohl, dass ich sie fotografieren wollte, aber dabei hat mich nur das SAGA-Schiff im Hintergrund interessiert. Ich wäre ja damals gerne mal auf der SAGA RUBY - der ehemaligen VISTAFJORD mitgefahren. Aber damals war ich noch keine 50, als sie außer Dienst gestellt wurde. Nun bin ich es, aber die SAGA RUBY gibt es ja leider nicht mehr.



I'm fortunate with the rear balcony cabin: the SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE came in, so I had a box seat to enjoy my 2nd breakfast. Sigi probably thought that I wanted to take a photo of her, but I was only interested in the SAGA ship in the background. Back then, I would have loved to have been on the SAGA RUBY - the former VISTAFJORD. But I wasn't 50 then when she was decommissioned. Now it's me, but unfortunately, the SAGA RUBY no longer exists.

We are coming to Split, Croatia, for the third time since 2006. The first time with the NORWEGIAN JADE 2011 (2) and then again with the NORWEGIAN JADE 2014 (2). The port facilities for cruise ships have changed a lot.



Wir kommen das dritte Mal seit 2006 nach Split. Das erste Mal mit der NORWEGIAN JADE 2011 (2) und dann nochmals mit der NORWEGIAN JADE 2014 (2). Die Hafenanlagen für Kreuzfahrer haben sich sehr verändert.

Beim ersten Mal haben wir sogar noch getendert und kamen mit unseren Eltern direkt in der Altstadt an.



The first time we even tendered and arrived with our parents right in the old town.

Since we are reluctant to disembark very early, I still have time to report that the shower drain is not draining correctly. Everything is cleared up in the evening.



Da wir nur ungern sehr früh von Bord gehen, habe ich noch Zeit zu melden, dass wohl der Abfluss der Dusche nicht richtig abfließt. Abends ist alles beseitigt.

Als ich die anderen abholen will, kommt mir alles so unbekannt vor: die Tür zwischen Backbord und Steuerbord ist geschlossen. Wir haben ja zwei Kabinen, die zu Backbord und zwei, die zu Steuerbord gehören.



When I want to pick up the others, everything seems unknown to me: the door between port and starboard is closed. We have two cabins on port and two on starboard.

In the evening, there are gifts for Diamond members: more shoe bags, and we're giving them away to my nieces.



Abends gibt es die Geschenke für Diamond-Mitglieder: noch weitere Schuhbeutel. Wir verschenken sie an meine Nichten.

Wir haben mit Neruda sehr viel Glück.

As vaccinated people, we are allowed to leave the ship independently, and they officially informed us of this upon embarkation.



Als Geimpfte dürfen wir unabhängig von Bord. Hierüber werden wir offiziell bei der Einschiffung bereits informiert.

Our tour guide Ajlin Andreis is waiting in front of the cruise terminal. We found them through Visit Split's website, and they published the associations of tourist guides. Only Ciceron/Splitguides responded and informed us that Croatia and MSC allow independent tours for vaccinated people. Unfortunately, they don't have an actual homepage, just a presence on Facebook. We were even luckier: Ajlin answered us directly, and when we asked if there were also German-speaking guides on offer, she wrote us that she was also offering the tour in German.



Vor dem Cruise Terminal wartet unsere Fremdenführerin Ajlin Andreis. Wir haben sie über die Seite von Visit Split gefunden. Dort wurden die Vereinigungen der Fremdenführer genannt. Nur Ciceron/Splitguides hat uns geantwortet und uns darüber informiert, dass Kroatien und MSC unabhängige Touren für Geimpfte zulassen. Leider haben sie keine richtige Homepage, sondern nur eine Präsenz auf Facebook. Wir hatten noch mehr Glück: Ajlin hatte uns direkt geantwortet und als wir nachfragen, ob auch deutschsprachige Fremdenführer im Angebot sind, schreibt sie uns, dass sie auch die Tour in Deutsch anbietet.

Uns fällt am Hafen direkt ein heruntergekommenes Gebäude auf. Wir dachten, dass es noch Schäden vom Bürgerkrieg sind, aber hier sind einfach die Eigentumsverhältnisse noch nicht geklärt und so ist keiner bereit zu investieren. So laufen wir in 10 Minuten bis zur Uferpromenade.



We notice a run-down building at the harbor. We thought that there was still damaged from the civil war, but the ownership structure has simply not yet been clarified, so nobody is willing to invest. So we walk to the promenade in 10 minutes.









Die ersten beide Mal sind wir zum Krka-Nationalpark gefahren, um die Wasserfälle zu sehen. Daher besuchen wir zum ersten Mal das UNESCO Welterbe Diokletianpalast. Bevor wir das Areal betreten erklärt uns Ajlin bereits an den Modellen und Bilder bzw. Karten, was uns erwartet. Auf dem Areal wird uns sehr viel erläutert.



We went to Krka National Park the first two times to see the waterfalls. Therefore we visit the UNESCO World Heritage Diocletian's Palace for the first time. Before we enter the area, Ajlin explains what to expect using the models and pictures or maps. A lot is presented to us on the site.

There is a shop from the chocolatier Nadalina on the site. You were involved in creating the largest chocolate bar in the world. So we have to try and buy something here too.



Auf dem Areal befindet sich ein Geschäft von dem Chocolatier Nadalina. Sie waren an der Erstellung der größten Schokoladentafel der Welt beteiligt. So müssen wir hier auch etwas probieren und kaufen.

Weiter geht es durch die Altstadt. Hier erfahren wir auch, dass nicht nur Dubrovnik ein Drehort von tps://www.hbo.com/game-of-thrones">Games of Thrones war, sondern auch Split. Deswegen gibt es in vielen Geschäften einen Bezug zu der Serie. Alle Details kann ich gar nicht wiedergeben: Am Besten man bucht eine eigene Tour bei Ajlin. Man findet sie bei meinen Facebook-Freunden und hierüber mit ihr Kontakt aufnehmen.



We continue through the old town. Here we also learn that Dubrovnik, Croatia, was a film set for Games of Thrones, but Split as well. That's why there is a reference to the series in many stores. I can't give you all the details: It's best to book your tour with Ajlin. You can find her on my Facebook friends and use this to contact her.

We're going to have a drink. Unfortunately, everything on the promenade is very crowded. At Veneranda, we find two tables that are not particularly friendly here, and tourists aren't that welcome.



Wir gehen etwas trinken. Leider ist alles an der Uferpromenade sehr voll. Bei Veneranda finden wir noch zwei Tische. Besonders freundlich sind sie hier nicht. Anscheinend sind Touristen nicht so willkommen.

Ich nehme eine hausgemachte Limonade.

I still have Croatian Crowns left from the last trip, and it is just enough for the bill.



Von der letzten Reise habe ich noch Kroatische Kronen übrig. Es reicht genau für die Rechnung.

Ajlin schlägt uns vor diesen Hügel hochzulaufen, weil man von hier einen sehr schönen Ausblick über die Stadt hat. Der Weg durch ein Wohnviertel ist sehr schön.

But we're also lucky with the weather again. We're not going all the way up, though.



Wir haben aber auch wieder Glück mit dem Wetter. Wir gehen aber nicht ganz nach oben.

We go back down to the old town for a while. On the way, we see the profiles for a missing German Swiss.



Wir gehen über eine Strecke wieder runter in die Altstadt. Unterwegs sehen wir die Steckbriefe für einen vermissten Deutsch-Schweizer.

Wir möchten eigentlich zum Abschluss der Tour Ajlin zum Mittagessen einladen, aber sie hat schon bereits eine weitere Verpflichtung. Sie sucht uns aber noch ein gutes Restaurant aus und übernimmt die Bestellung für uns. So essen wir noch im Dujkin Dvor an Land gute regionale Speisen. Leider gehören Ražnjići und Ćevapčići nicht in ihr Angebot. Aber dafür gibt es andere leckere Sachen: z. B. Muscheln!



We want to invite Ajlin to lunch at the end of the tour, but she already has another commitment. But she still chooses a good restaurant for us and takes over the order. So we still eat good regional dishes on land at Dujkin Dvor. Unfortunately, Ražnjići and Ćevapčići are not part of their offer. But there are other delicious things to do with it: B. Clams!

We walk back to the ship.



Wir laufen zurück zum Schiff.

Auch heute sind wir wieder über 10.000 Schritte gelaufen.

I get a message on board to pick up my Douglas Ward again.



An Bord bekomme ich die Nachricht, dass ich meinen Douglas Ward wieder abholen kann.

Ich nutze das, um noch zwei Kugelschreiber von MSC mitzunehmen.



I use this to take two more MSC pens with me.

I'll have another cappuccino: 3.50 EUR plus a 15% service charge = 4.03 EUR (2021). In the past, they always advertised on Sonnenklar TV how inexpensive the coffee specialties are on board MSC. Now at Dallmayr in Munich, Germany, you pay 3.90 EUR for a cappuccino (2021). So pretty expensive. But tasty.



Ich nehme noch einen Cappuccino: 3,50 EUR plus 15% Service-Charge = 4,03 EUR (2021). Früher haben sie immer bei Sonnenklar TV geworben, wie preiswert die Kaffeespezialitäten an Bord von MSC ist. Nun bei Dallmayr in München zahlt man für einen Cappuccino 3,90 EUR (2021). Also ganz schön teuer. Aber lecker.

Am Nachmittag passiert ein kleiner Unfall. Ich gönne mir ein Stück Pizza und da es mittlerweile kalt ist, möchte ich eine Tasse Tee mit zur Kabine nehmen. Ich nehme den Fahrstuhl, weil ich die Tasse nicht auf der Treppe runtertragen will. Die Tür geht auf und springt sofort wieder zu und schlägt mir genau auf meine Hand. Das heiße Wasser schwappt auf meine Hand und auf den Boden des Fahrstuhls. Ich rufe sofort bei der Rezeption an, und bitte darum, dass das Housekeeping sich um den nassen Boden kümmert. Ich werde gebeten den Unfall im Bordhospital zu melden. Dort führe ich ein Gespräch mit dem Sicherheitsoffizier. Ich erkläre, wie oft ich auf Kreuzfahrtschiffen unterwegs bin und insbesondere mit MSC. Ich schlage vor, dass sie sich die Videoaufzeichnungen ansehen, da sie bestätigen würden, dass die Tür zu schnell schloss. Als Ergebnis unterschreibt der Sicherheitsoffizier die Unfallanzeige: ich muss nichts für die ärztliche Behandlung und für die Verbrennungssalbe bezahlen.



A minor accident happened in the afternoon. I treat myself to a slice of pizza, and since it's cold now, I want to take a cup of tea with me to the cabin. I use the elevator because I don't want to carry the cup down the stairs. The door opens and immediately jumps shut again and hits me right on my hand. The hot water sloshes onto my hand and onto the floor of the elevator. I'll call the front desk straight away and ask housekeeping to take care of the wet floor. I am asked to report the accident to the on-board hospital. I talk with the security officer there. I explain how often I am on cruise lines and especially with MSC. I suggest they watch the videotapes to confirm the door closed too quickly. As a result, the security officer signs the accident report: I don't have to pay anything for the medical treatment or the burn ointment.

Pity! At that time, at MSC MUSICA 2007, we ate well in the pop-up specialty restaurant and sushi restaurant. Unfortunately, there is only the Oriental Plaza, and there is only the Asian-Fusion offer: in advance online for 21.00 EUR (2021) or onboard for 28.00 EUR plus 15% service charge (2021). It's actually unfair: Asians of all people try Asian food onboard an Italian ship. The neighboring table with German guests was delighted. I thought it was terrible and was annoyed that we didn't eat in the main restaurant! They should have replaced the dim sum with Italian ravioli. I had ordered a few more things: one comes, and one doesn't. But then, I no longer wanted that to happen. I had lost my appetite in the meantime. I had explicitly ordered "Not spicy". Everyone at the table found the food spicy. As a comment came from the Indian waiter: "Even the children would love and eat that". They would have liked to take the food and serve it to other children. I found the answer pretty outrageous. I pay extra, and I should like it, and if I wish that I don't want it spicy, they should respect that!



Schade! Wir haben damals auf der MSC MUSICA 2007 ganz toll im Pop-Up Zuzahlrestaurant gegessen und auch im Sushi-Restaurant. Hier gibt es leider nur den Oriental Plaza und es gibt als Angebot nur das Asian-Fusion Angebot: vorab online für 21,00 EUR (2021) bzw. an Bord für 28,00 EUR plus 15% Service Charge (2021). Es ist ja eigentlich unfair: ausgerechnet Asiaten probieren asiatisches Essen an Bord eines italienischen Schiffes. Der Nachbartisch mit deutschen Gästen waren total begeistert. Ich fand es ganz schrecklich und habe mich geärgert, dass wir nicht im Hauptrestaurant gegessen haben! Die Dim Sum hätten sie doch besser durch italienische Ravioli ersetzen sollen. Ich hatte noch ein paar Sachen zusätzlich bestellt: eines kommt und eines nicht. Ich wollte dann aber auch nicht mehr, dass das noch kommt. Mir war der Appetit zwischenzeitlich vergangen. Ich hatte ausdrücklich "Nicht scharf" bestellt. Jeder am Tisch empfand das Essen als scharf. Als kommentar kam vom indischen Kellner: "Das würden ja sogar die Kinder lieben und essen". Es hätte gerne das Essen nehmen können und es anderen Kindern servieren können. Ich fand die Antwort ziemlich unverschämt. Ich zahle extra und es sollte mir schmecken und wenn ich den Wunsch äußere, dass ich es nicht scharf möchte, dann sollte das respektiert werden!

Wir gehen wieder in die Sportsbar für einen Drink. Wieder ist es sehr nett. Wir bitten direkt darum, dass wir keine Antipasti bekommen. Ein schöner Tag geht zu Ende - abgesehen vom Abendessen, aber wir haben ja mittags ganz toll gegessen! Daher ist es trotzdem ein schöner Tag.



We're going back to the sports bar for a drink. Again, it's charming. We ask directly that we do not get any antipasti. A beautiful day is coming to an end - apart from dinner, but we had a great lunch! So it's still a nice day.
